2026 Blood Supply Resilience Survey

Following the blood supply challenges experienced since 2022, we would like to understand which changes to blood stock management, patient blood management (PBM) and contingency planning have been sustained within hospitals. The survey focuses on current practice and organisational preparedness.

The information collected will help inform future planning, strengthen contingency arrangements and support ongoing blood supply resilience across England.

To help ensure responses accurately reflect practice across the hospital, we encourage completion of the survey as a collaborative exercise involving members of the Hospital Transfusion Team. The questions cover laboratory practice, PBM initiatives and clinical transfusion practice.

Please submit one response per hospital, with individual responses for each hospital within a Trust.

The survey has been designed to be completed over multiple sessions, allowing you to save your progress and return at a later time. Questions can be completed in any order, enabling you to gather information from colleagues or other departments as needed before submitting your responses.

Please complete the Blood Supply Resilience Survey, it closes on 15 November 2026.

If you have any questions, please contact your Customer Service Manager. Alternatively phone our Response Desk on 0208 201 3107, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday; we’ll be pleased to help.

Kind regards
