Updated NICE Guidance on Tranexamic Acid (TXA)

NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has today updated its blood transfusion guideline, simplifying when TXA should be offered during surgery - removing the need to estimate blood loss and focussing instead on any procedure with a bleeding risk.

We have been made aware of a technical issue affecting the blood transfusion shared care communication form. The shared‑care blood transfusion communication form was developed and is owned by the National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) Shared Care Working Group with input from SHOT.
